- <p> There's a long, long trail awinding between Anchorage and
- Nome, and Susan Butcher travels it faster than anyone else.
- Butcher, 35, set a record last week in Alaska's annual
- 1,158-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, which was plagued by
- marauding moose that had nasty run-ins with several sledders.
- It was the fourth time Butcher won the mushing marathon, and
- after crossing the finish line she praised the stamina of the
- canine champs she and husband David Monson raised and trained.
- Said she dogmatically: "This team had power coming out of its
- ears." Hear, hear.
